Top Cities for Solo Travel

Travel – probably one of the greatest things you can do in your lifetime, so no matter how you do it. Never miss out!!

There’s nothing like a boys holiday, or a romantic getaway for two but sometimes your desire demands a different kind of adventure. Solo travel has become a hugely popular option for fearless travellers, a trend that Airbnb found highlighted in its user data.

“A growing number of home bookings are for individual explorers,” said the site recently. In the trendiest cities, Airbnb reports that “anywhere from 14% to 27% of all bookings are made by solo travellers.”

And why not? I for one have stopped waiting for friends to join me because it seems our schedules never seem to match. Should I miss out because I don’t want to travel alone?? No!!! I have actually made three trips in a row in the last few weeks to Nice, Barcelona, and Luxembourg. So trust me guys don’t wait for your best friend or wingman – just travel IF YOU want to.

So let’s think about the benefits for a second. You enjoy your own company. You know exactly what kind of hotel you like to stay in, the kind of foods you like to eat, whether you like tourist hotspots or wandering around… and you never have to worry about pleasing anyone else as you have complete freedom. It’s a whole lot easier to enjoy experiences abroad as you have complete control of what you want.

So that brings me to Airbnb, who have drawn up a list of the most in-demand solo travel destinations based on recent bookings. So check out the gallery and comment below if you are surprised by these results.

It definitely surprised me!

Some of the Airbnb choices did surprise me as Mexico and Sao Paulo are known to be notoriously dangerous. However they are beautiful and full of culture though! x

I have traveled all over the world, but never by myself! I have done a couple business trips to Europe and Middle East where I had to go by myself, but I was stuck in a big conference room with a bunch of people and I would have one day of free time, I would just walk around the city. That is the extent of traveling by myself.

I have never traveled solo, except when I worked abroad for two years. It was always me and my husband or me and my family. It would be nice to go on an adventure alone, but I guess I am way past that adventurous age. I will let my daughter and my sons read this post. They are at the prime of their lives for traveling.

I’ve never travelled on my own before! But it sounds like it would actually be a lot of fun! and the idea of staying in an Airbnb is something I’ve never done before but really want to do!
