This is Huge – The Exercise to Add Years to your Life!

Its Official

We all know that every fitness exercise has its own special benefits right. But when it comes to increasing life span, science geeks are pointing to the exercise I hate the most: Running. I hate running, I REALLY hate running it’s so boring. But various studies have found that runners live about 3 years longer than non-runners, and that came from the New York Times. ( if they say so it must be true :p)

I found another study, published in Progress in Cardiovascular Disease. And they discovered that running can lower the risk of a premature death by a massive 40%.

Im hitting you guys with all kinds of stats!

running

Please do not fall asleep yet because now comes the good part! As little as five minutes a day just 5 measly minutes can be linked to longevity! Now even I can be satisfied with that result.

‘Just five minutes a day

can you believe it’!!

So the researchers figured out that if you run a total of two hours a week, it can add a little more than three years to your life. But hold on – wait a minute guys, it doesn’t mean the more you run the longer you live. Because that kind of thinking WILL earn you a one way ticket to a padded room. The benefits actually plateau at running four hours a week, I wonder what Olympic Gold Medalist Mo Farah thinks hmm.

Cardio in general is really good for your heart. And regarding other types of exercises like spin or walking, researchers still found that it adds years to your life, but only lowered the risk of a premature death by a much smaller percentage! Unlucky spinners!

So in a nutshell Rebel fans – the idea is to keep bloody moving! And to stop complaining like I do about running outside or on a treadmill! I mean let’s face it –  we get a few years added to our lives, to watch Netflix and chill! So who’s up for a 5 min run in London???

My son is going to live forever. He loves to run. I only walk now at my age. Figure anything helps.

Great post! So many of us tend to think that it’s all-in or nothing. Truly, just a few minutes of exercise whenever we can fit it in will be beneficial.

A good reminder…I don’t care for running either, I prefer swimming and other forms of cardio. But I should run more!

Just 5 minutes a day?! I can do that!! I only run occasionally for 30-45 minutes (a few miles) because it’s rough on my knees and neck (spinal injury from too much running years ago). But 5 minutes a day?!?! That I can do!!

well if you do just five or so minutes and more frequently you can still get your mileage in just not all in one go and it can help your knees – by the way have you ever used those chinese balms it feels warm and i bet if you rub that around your knees before you run i guarantee it will help :). i do it and i have no knee or should joint problems but i use a bit and it just warms it up a bit

Love this statistic. I HATE running, but right now it is one of my primary forms of exercise because it is free. I can’t imagine how people did it before music was portable. Music is the only thing that gets me through.

I love running, but I haven’t in months! It is definitely a great exercise. Once you get something good playing and in a rhythm, time passes in a flash and you’ve run 5 miles! It’s definitely easy, and you can do it anywhere. Great post!
