Travel can be really expensive when it comes to all components such as the flights on specific dates and of course the right accommodation. But we do what we can to make it happen, right? So, Rebel Nation, I decided to showcase some of the best bucket list worthy destinations in Europe, where you get more for your money! However, the one stipulation is that you have to do your very best to get there on the cheap – so set your travel alerts asap!
Average Daily Cost: £70
Sea, mountains and apparently, they make good cider if that’s a deal maker for you. Sunbathing on the Costa Verde’s beaches is a must, as well as checking out the sacred fountain at the Covadonga sanctuary. Hiking through the National Park is an adventurous option, while sampling the freshest seafood platters might be the best you’ve ever tasted.
Where to stay: Finca Portizuelo
Average Daily Cost: £87
It’s a UNESCO world heritage site and you can clearly see why! Stretching from Salzburg and the Dachstein mountains lies this amazing lake scene in the village of Hallstatt. The best way to really immerse yourself and enjoy the views is to get around by walking or bikes. Or to try the rowboats and the railway car to the worlds first salt mines which I am sure will be an instagrammers dream!
THE AZORES, PORTUGAL
Average Daily Cost: £95
The Azores, namely the Hawaii of Europe located off the coast of Portugal. Now this place is filled with lakes and geysers, waterfalls and thermal springs and of course acres of greenery. Be advised that travelling between islands can get pretty pricey, so my top tip would be to head towards 1 island stop to Sao Miguel! Why? Well because you will be able to taste a stew that’s cooked by volcanic steam (Cozido das Furnas)!!! You can tick that off the bucket list!
THE PELION PENINSULA, GREECE
Average Daily Cost: £67
Some people would argue (namely me) that the Pelion Peninsula is where you will find Greece’s most beautiful beaches and NOT just Santorini! The water is crystal clear and surrounds by mountainsides – come on how good does that look. You will have a chance to visit a range of hilltop villages through mountain paths, landscapes that’s unchanged for millennia, rustic tavernas and those white guest houses. A destination that is definitely worth exploring where very few tourists venture.
Where to stay: Melies Apartments
Average Daily spend: £76
One of the most towns you will ever find in Europe and a little hidden gem. This former venetian port area sits on the slopes of the bay of Kotor. The best thing about this quiet town are the views and just to be completely relaxed. What more do you need except good food, sunsets and the promise of tranquility. For those of you who are itching to sightsee there are a vast amount of churches and palazzos!
